Pre-Season is well and truly underway for Manchester United as they haven’t lost a single match under their new gaffer, Erik ten Hag. On Tuesday in Melbourne, they recorded another win against Crystal Palace in the form 3-1.
So far, Erik ten Hag has potently delivered as to why he was asked to become the new boss. Although during the last moments from their win against Palace, Erik was heard denouncing upon his goalkeeper, David De Gea.
Manchester Uniter won comfortably in their third friendly game but something else stole the headlines. They now have a blistering 100% win record under their new gaffer, Erik ten Hag. The team seems flawless as of current and even some unwanted players have started performing highly i.e Anthony Martial. Although De Gea was ripped off from a potential clean sheet mainly due to his error full judgment. He conceded surprisingly from a wavered header shot by Joel Ward onto the near post.
Why Was Erik Seen Fuming On The Touchline?
De Gea missed the match before playing against Crystal Palace due to a knock. However, he played full 90 minutes this week. The Spanish ‘beast between the sticks’ was heavily criticised for his unorthodox reaction to an unconscious header. Thats not all, he faced further criticism by the gaffer when there were only two minutes remaining of the match. Crystal Palace’s attackers put pressure on him while he was on the ball and he decided to kick it over the fence. He thought he did the right thing but Erik felt otherwise. Erik ten Hag plays one of the best brands of football and his tactics usually involve playing out from the back. No matter the condition, even high structural press from the opposition doesn’t change his views.
Seems like David De Gea wasn’t completely aware of the new boss’ tactics and his clearance led to gifting the possession back to Palace. Erik ten Hag on the other hand didn’t take it quite well. He was seen panicked by his goalkeeper’s decision-making skills. He was apparently heard on the touchline shouting, “David, what the f*** are you doing?”
This literally equates as to why The Red Devils have been so impressive under the new coach, so far. The gaffer doesn’t have any room for mistakes, even during a friendly in Melbourne. They still might have a lot improvements to be made before the season starts. So they can work together and accordingly to bring back the glory days. During the post match interview, Erik ten Hag hinted towards the unexpected concession as well.
I think it’s pre-season and we are happy with the improvement we see but also you see a lot of work to do.
